U.S. CDC Publishes New Resources for Alcohol & Other Substance Use

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have released new resources for prevention late last month. More than 140,000 deaths between 2015 and 2019 were related to excessive alcohol use. Community education, resources, and support are at the forefront of the CDC’s plan to help curb the tide. To this end, they published an updated factsheet for alcohol and polysubstance use as well as a new alcohol screening tool which allows adults to anonymously check their drinking and create a custom plan. For more information about the impact of excessive alcohol use, readers can also view the CDC’s Alcohol and Public Health recent communication here.
